Well, well, well...
It seems that the Gomery inquiry, yes, that long and boring reality tv show watched by millions where the corrupted faction of the Liberal Party of Canada was sentenced to a few slaps on the wrists, some jail time and a few laughs in our faces for profiting from a racket which had the original intent to "Save Canada", was available for a limited time only.
That inquiry led to the shame of the Liberals, and to punish that insidious act, Canadian voters decided to NOT vote for them, which had the consequence to place the Conservatives in power, albeit in minority position. That and a few asshats in the area of Quebec City and the tribal region of Adequistan. Harper saw his opportuniy, him and the clique of lay pastors that surround him (and a few semi-literate numbskulls like M. Bernier, and Blackburn) to further their agenda. I guess they felt like Canada gave them a free ticket to reorganize the social landscape. So far he has hit roadbumps. That's good. We don't want the same results the US had with their so-called "neo-con revolution". What a joke that has been.
A lot of people thought the Tories in power would mean a more responsible, democratic and fair government. We forget that the eggheads who pay lipservice for Mr. Nice Hairdo are more interested in implementing a new social contract that would bind all the provinces to the Western Canada agri-business and tar sand-linked ponzi scheme, and, much like the Conservatives of the Eighties, are quick to reproduce the same bad habits of the previous administrations, whether Liberal, Tory, Neo-democrat or whatever.
Soon, ven members of the new Conservative family found out that what Harper and his clique have in mind have nothing to do with "accountability" or "democracy". Its more about sucking up to the US (McKay kissing the buttocks of Condi Rice) or playing macho man against the Chinese (even though we are increasingly dependent on them for our everyday junk). And when someone in the family complains publicly about how this is problematic, they get branded as traitors and expelled out of the caucus. Headless twits who are sold out to the Tory ideology like this boob don't get the picture.
The real traitor is not Garth Turner, ladies and gents, it's Harper and the cryptotheocrats that surround him. We saw the real face of their environmental policies in Nairobi, and that has mined our credibility on the international front considerably. We have seen the real non-compassionate face of Stephen when it comes to AIDS, one of the real ACTUAL global threat that is crippling us, and now we have a government that won't abide by the new rules that they were fighting for while they were moving hot hair in the opposition box...
The Tories need a good bitch-slap but I think most Canadians are too chicken to do it. Or too comfortable with the idea that we are getting more and more dependent on China and the US for our economy... Pathetic.
