Hey there phononophreaks... I decided to beat the snowstorm blues by giving you a glimpse of some of my lesser known musical tastes and giving you a kind of guided tour of Finnish music and, no, I'm not talking about those lamebrains called The Rasmus (who were popsters until they decided to dress like gothic girls) but the real thing, you know, the one that makes people say I'm all meshuggah : in FINNISH language please.
First off : Kotiteollisuus. When I went back in 2001, Kotiteollisuus were the first band I saw live and it was quite a show. A powertrio that does power metal the way it should be done : no guitar solos, no costumes, no hairdo : just music and balls.
Here are a few of their videoclips, brought to you by YouTube :
Routa ei lopu (Groundfrost isn't over) from 1998
Jos Sanon (If I Tell), from their excellent album Tomusta ja Tohkusta (2000)
Kultalusikka (Gold spoon) from the album Kuollen kukan nimi (2002)
Rakasta ei Rakasta (Love not love) from the album Kuollen kukan nimi (2002)
This one is pretty rough to watch but it is a pretty accurate picture of the ugly underside of a very nice country. It was banned by some Finnish tv stations.
Minä olen (I am), from the album Helvetistä itään (From Hell to the East) (2003)
This is one of the recent videos by Kotiteollisuus, Iankaikkinen, from the album of the same name (2006)
